Sony Launch WhaleFin Japan Followed

Beyond exchange operations, Sony’s entry into cryptocurrencies marks a significant step towards developing its own public blockchain network

Sony Group followed by its acquisition and remodeling of the local trading platform WhaleFin, is all set to launch its cryptocurrency exchange subsidiary under the new name S.BLOX Co. As revealed in a recent news report, the tech group aims to diversify its services to enhance the value proposition of its crypto trading services.

The revamped S.BLOX Co. includes an updated user-interface with a user-friendly mobile application to enhance traders’ accessibility. While the exact launch date is unknown, Quetta Web Co., a subsidiary of Sony, acquired Whalefin, formerly known as Decurret, last year, signifying its entry into the crypto-currency market. Beyond exchange operations, Sony’s entry into cryptocurrencies marks a significant step towards developing its own public blockchain network in collaboration with Startale Labs. Additionally, the company has shown interest in non-fungible tokens (NFTs), having put forth licenses aimed at increasing its utility in gaming spaces.

As Sony continues to navigate the burgeoning crypto landscape, industry experts weigh in on the impact its new policy could have on both the tech and entertainment industries.
