10 Innovative Companies of the Year 2025
Business Honor
TSN Visual Communication Solutions is a purpose-designed digital communication platform customized for K–12 schools, colleges, and businesses. Founded by Michael Broyles in 2017, TSN is based on a personal experience that brought to light the gap between schools and students when it comes to communication. When he realized that conventional means such as websites and social media were not effective in connecting with students, Broyles suggested a more intuitive and effective alternative.
TSN's purpose is to connect the power of visual communication to educate, inform, empower, and inspire people in all walks of life across industries. Its platform provides customizable solutions that respond to each industry's specific requirements. For K–12 education, TSN offers products such as Campus Connect, Classroom Connect, Cafeteria Connect, Athletic Connect, and Community Connect that enable focused communication across the school campus. In business, Business Connect and Workspace Connect solutions allow organizations to share information efficiently with different departments and locations. TSN's platform is intuitive, enabling administrators and teachers to handle content easily. It has web-based communication software, content resources with Canva integration, and strong support services. The platform also has integration with safety and security systems to ensure that important information can be communicated effectively in times of emergency.
TSN's platform, adopted by over 1.5 million students across 42 states and more than 2,000 campuses, reflects its impact on enhancing communication in education. By prioritizing user feedback and addressing the specific needs of each industry, TSN delivers a scalable solution—developed in partnership with companies like LG, ViewSonic, Philips, and Samsung—that drives engagement, fosters a positive culture, and improves safety across educational and business environments.
We at Business Honor spoke with Michael Broyles, founder of TSN Visual Communication Solutions, to learn how a personal moment sparked a mission to transform campus communication.
TSN integrates with safety and emergency systems like Centegix and CrisisGo. How do these integrations enhance the safety protocols of educational institutions, and what feedback have you received from schools regarding these features?
TSN wants to keep everything simple. By integrating with all major CAP providers, we make enhancing safety simple. You would activate an alert through your CAP provider, and the appropriate alert message immediately overtakes all TSN screens, providing a visual and instant alert to every part of your campus. A customer recently requested that we add an option for sound to our alerts. We realized this was a great idea and could make our alert tool even more effective, so we did just that: We have now included a few pre-installed sound alert options, or the customer can upload their own sound or pre-recorded message to play during an alert activation. This makes TSN alerts a more effective solution in K-12, higher ed, or business settings by providing the customer more flexibility in how they distribute their alerts.
The Student Projects module allows students to contribute content. How does involving students in content creation influence their engagement and learning experience, and what support does TSN provide to facilitate this process?
TSN makes it simple to have a variety of administrators and teachers accessing the network. AV and graphic design classes already exist, and students are already making content—but often for a YouTube page with only a few followers. TSN’s Student Creative Module allows them to share work campus-wide. Students submit their work to a teacher-reviewed portal. Once approved, the teacher pushes out the content live across campus. Now, as a student walks down their campus halls, they see something they made, their best friend made, or their cousin/brother/sister made. Students now have a voice, and that leads to them taking ownership of the culture of their campus. This is extremely powerful and engaging content. TSN will train whatever teacher or administrator is in charge of this for the campus. For TSN, all training comes at no cost, and there is no limit to the number of training sessions.
Beyond education, TSN serves various industries. How do the needs of business clients differ from those of educational institutions, and how does TSN adapt its solutions to meet these diverse requirements?
For schools, the idea is to keep students informed and engaged. For K-12, higher ed, and business, the goal is to keep communication engaging and drive action. Each use case (why is the information being pushed), user base (who is pushing the information), and audience type (who is receiving the information) has unique structures and language. K-12 needs are different from those of higher education institutions, and their audiences are different, and the platform must reflect that to be effective—the same is true for the needs of businesses. By making sure the platforms are organized and labeled appropriately, the system becomes more easily understood by the user base. This is why we have 3 distinct platforms (K12/Higher Ed/Business) to ensure we can best serve the visual communication needs of each.
In the K-12 space, that is made even more difficult by the various levels of education: high school, middle school, and elementary school. TSN makes sure that our elementary school tools and features are more appropriate and unique than those found in middle schools or high schools. So use case, user base, and audience type are critical elements to consider as you deliver a platform suitable for various market segments.
With the rapid advancement of technology, how does TSN stay ahead in integrating new tools and features into its platform? Are there any upcoming innovations or developments that you're particularly excited about?
We are always looking for ways to improve. We make content easier to create or procure for the system. We added an AI creative feature in our creative module with the idea that it would broaden and simplify the creative process for the user. We are doing this by working to become more hardware agnostic. We are currently working with some amazing companies like ViewSonic, Philips, LG, Samsung, and others. We don’t want schools to be burdened with purchasing new hardware when they adopt TSN to improve communication across their campus. We want to make TSN as attainable and easily scalable for every customer as we can.
TSN offers services like the White Glove Service and Strong Start Service. How do these services enhance the client onboarding experience, and what strategies does TSN employ to ensure long-term client satisfaction and support?
Our White Glove and Strong Start are both something that I am very proud of—these services are about showing up, going the extra mile, and setting up each campus for long-term success with TSN.
Our White Glove Service means we come to your campus, set everything up for you, and train your team in person. While many schools opt to handle setup themselves and attend Zoom-based training sessions due to scheduling, those who choose White Glove get a fully hands-on experience. We’re in and out in a few hours, with your campus up and running—without putting extra pressure on your staff or resources.
Our Strong Start Program is all about making your launch day count. We pull content directly from your website and social media to create a set of engaging, customized visuals that make an immediate impact. That way, when your screens go live, they’re already filled with messages your students and staff recognize and connect with. It’s that early buzz that sets the tone for strong engagement from day one.
We have several schools that have asked us to continue creating content for them. This is a creative service that we can modify to fit whatever the needs are.
As TSN continues to grow and evolve, what are your long-term goals for the company? How do you envision the role of visual communication in shaping the future of education and business communication?
Our long-term goals focus on 3 things: 1) making TSN easier and more cost-effective to scale, 2) simplifying content creation and access, and 3) integrating with key third-party tools like CAP providers.
We started out as a simple communication tool and have proudly evolved into a platform that maintains a positive culture while improving safety. We have a daily discussion on how TSN can improve culture and safety for our customers. We do not take that obligation lightly and will continue to focus our efforts on accomplishing these things.
We believe that the need for effective visual communication will only grow and become more important to keeping employees, students, customers, and citizens informed and engaged. People are naturally visual, and effective visual communication creates connections and positively influences people in the strongest ways.
