10 Innovative Companies of the Year 2026
Business Honor

Today, healthcare systems around the world remain fragmented — with data scattered across multiple platforms, records, and applications. Patients, doctors, and researchers often struggle to access or share information quickly, making coordinated care and informed decisions difficult. Inavya changes that by connecting people, data, and insights through its smart, secure AI technology — bringing everything together in one unified platform.
AVATR AI helps people understand their health, share information safely, and make confident choices. By leveraging trusted tools like Microsoft Azure and WhatsApp, AVATR AI makes healthcare simpler, more connected, and easier for everyone to use. Inavya Ventures is redefining digital health through Agentic AI — technology that helps people act with clarity, confidence, and control. Under the leadership of Dr Michael Wilkinson, and in collaboration with HealthSum, Microsoft, and WhatsApp, Inavya is demonstrating how intelligent systems can extend access to care, improve outcomes, and preserve the dignity of human agency.
Insights from a Conversation with Dr Michael Wilkinson
Inavya Ventures has become known for pioneering Agentic AI and synthetic experts in healthcare. Could you share the story behind its founding, the original vision that inspired this innovation, and how your partnership with HealthSum in Norway and Switzerland continues to shape that mission?
The inspiration behind Inavya — and what ultimately became AVATR AI — came from a deeply personal place. My brother lived with diabetes and far exceeded medical expectations, not through privilege or resources, but through something powerful: agency. That experience revealed how transformative self-understanding and agency can be. As AI evolved, I saw the potential to design technology that gives everyone that same empowerment. AVATR AI was born from that belief. Our teamwork with HealthSum, based in Norway, Switzerland, and the UK, strengthens that mission. HealthSum’s distributed-ledger architecture complements our platform, providing transparency and trust — especially in reaching patients who have historically been excluded from consistent care.
AVATR® is described as a CE-marked medical device and digital health platform. How did this evolve into Agentic AI — and what makes the current system so distinctive?
AVATR®, developed by Inavya Ventures, created a foundation for digital health using classical AI technology. It established a trusted environment for connecting patients, clinicians, and researchers. Building on that foundation, AVATR AI was independently created by Dr Jaspal Sahota, who designed and developed its core architecture and philosophical principles. His work introduces a new level of semantic reasoning and contextual understanding — enabling the creation of synthetic experts that learn, adapt, and collaborate intelligently. These synthetic experts are accessible directly through WhatsApp, which connects nearly three billion people worldwide. With no new app to download and no new interface to learn, users can engage with their intelligent digital counterpart instantly and securely. Combined with Microsoft Azure’s global infrastructure, this approach makes Inavya’s Agentic AI scalable, efficient, and inclusive.
Inavya’s technology enables users to create and interact with their own synthetic experts. How do you ensure these systems maintain the highest standards of data security, privacy, and interoperability, especially under Microsoft Azure’s trusted infrastructure?
We operate under a privacy-by-design model in which users own and control their data. Every interaction is encrypted, consent-driven, and transparent. Running on Microsoft Azure allows compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO 27001, while Azure’s FHIR interoperability ensures smooth integration with clinical systems. Our collaboration with HealthSum adds a distributed-ledger layer that provides an immutable record of transactions. Together with WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, it forms a secure, interoperable environment that’s both user-friendly and enterprise-grade.
Leadership is often key to sustaining innovation. How would you describe your leadership philosophy at Inavya and how it empowers your teams — from AI engineering to clinical research — to deliver real-world healthcare transformation?
Our leadership philosophy is centred on agility, empowerment, and purpose. We’ve built a lean, agile organization that learns continuously and avoids unnecessary complexity. Our model empowers users — clinicians, researchers, and patients — with direct control over their agentic tools. They decide how their synthetic experts operate and evolve. Internally, we trust expertise, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and lead with meaning. That ethos extends to our partnerships with Microsoft, HealthSum, and WhatsApp, all grounded in shared principles of openness and ethical impact.
The collaboration between Inavya and HealthSum has become a model for cross-border digital-health innovation. What long-term goals do you share with your partners, and how do you see AVATR AI expanding globally?
Our shared goal is to make intelligent healthcare globally inclusive. HealthSum’s distributed systems and micro-cloud infrastructure allow secure, verifiable participation even in low-connectivity settings. We’re preparing TRL-8 demonstrators in Switzerland, Singapore, the United States, Brazil, Peru, and India, validating our Agentic AI through three key metrics: efficiency, effectiveness, and quality. These demonstrators form the backbone of our 18-month TRL-8 plan, paving the way to TRL-9 readiness by 2027.
Dr Fredrik Lindberg, Surgeon and CEO of HealthSum (Norway, Switzerland, and UK), adds: 'Our partnership with Inavya represents a new model for global healthcare. By combining distributed systems, secure ledgers, and conversational AI, we’re enabling patients to access trusted medical support wherever and whenever they need it — whether that’s in Oslo, São Paulo, or a remote village in Peru. This is about healthcare without boundaries.'
With rapid advancements in AI, generative technologies, and healthcare regulation, how is Inavya positioning itself to stay ahead — particularly through its strategic sponsorship and integration with Microsoft’s Azure platform and Marketplace ecosystem?
Through Microsoft’s ISV Success sponsorship, we access Azure’s healthcare and AI infrastructure, including secure deployment, compliance frameworks, and analytics. We’re preparing to publish Agentic AI on Microsoft Azure Marketplace, allowing health organisations to deploy it quickly and securely. Azure also supports our WhatsApp Business API integration, ensuring that conversational access is compliant and globally available. This blend — Azure for trust, WhatsApp for reach — keeps AVATR AI agile, scalable, and aligned with the evolving digital-health landscape.
Inavya’s solutions are designed to enhance clinical performance and patient outcomes. How do you measure success — not only in terms of user satisfaction but also through clinical impact, research productivity, and quality-of-life improvements?
We measure success through three dimensions: efficiency, effectiveness, and quality. Efficiency means time and resource savings across workflows. Effectiveness means better decisions, faster responses, and improved outcomes. Quality means intuitive, supportive, empowering experiences. These guide our 18-month TRL-8 programme, focused on demonstrating measurable, repeatable benefits before global scale-up.
Innovation is clearly central to Inavya’s DNA. Could you expand on how Agentic AI and synthetic experts fit into your long-term innovation roadmap — and how you’re using these technologies to redefine evidence generation, clinical trials, and patient engagement?
Our roadmap aims to build continuous-learning ecosystems powered by networks of synthetic experts. By combining knowledge graphs, distributed ledgers, and WhatsApp-based conversational interfaces, we’re creating adaptive, transparent intelligence that learns from every interaction. This transforms how evidence is generated and shared — making healthcare more responsive, verifiable, and humane. Accessibility via WhatsApp removes significant barriers to access: no apps, no friction, just direct engagement on a platform people already use every day.
Inavya and HealthSum are gaining visibility as global leaders in digital-health ecosystems. Could you share details of your upcoming partnerships or expansion plans, including how you are working with Microsoft and WhatsApp to bring Agentic AI solutions to hospitals, research networks, and national health systems worldwide?
We’re moving into implementation under our TRL-8 plan, preparing multi-country demonstrators with Microsoft, HealthSum, and WhatsApp. These will show how Azure-hosted, WhatsApp-enabled synthetic experts improve efficiency, effectiveness, and quality across care delivery and research collaboration. Because users access AVATR AI directly through WhatsApp — without any downloads — deployment is immediate and global. It’s a lean, inclusive approach that proves advanced AI can meet people exactly where they are.
