Google has introduced a comprehensive suite of tools designed to help organizations build, manage, and govern AI agents at scale through its updated Gemini Enterprise platform. Announced at Google Cloud Next, the new offerings target both knowledge workers and IT teams seeking to deploy autonomous agents across their operations.
The Gemini Enterprise app now features Projects, a collaborative workspace that enables teams to interact with shared AI expert chatbots connected to data sources from Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and team communications. A new Canvas tool allows users to create and co-edit documents directly within Gemini, supporting both Google and Microsoft file formats.
To democratize agent creation, Google released Agent Designer for general availability in the coming weeks. This no-code builder enables users to construct schedule- or trigger-based agents using natural language prompts or a visual flowchart interface. The platform also introduces long-running agents capable of handling multi-step workflows—such as financial reconciliations spanning multiple days—that operate autonomously in cloud sandboxes.
A new Inbox feature serves as a central command location to monitor and manage agent activity. Users gain visibility into active agents and receive prioritized notifications regarding agent status, errors, and completed actions, addressing the challenge of keeping humans informed when asynchronous agents operate in the background.
On the IT side, Google introduced the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, equipped with management tools including Agent Identity, which assigns unique cryptographic IDs to each agent for audit trail creation; Agent Registry, a central library indexing approved internal agents; and Agent Gateway, providing secure connectivity between agents and enterprise tools. Industry analysts note Google's advantage stems from its full-stack ownership spanning infrastructure, models, data, and security—positioning it competitively against Microsoft, OpenAI, and AWS in the rapidly expanding enterprise agent market.
