HPE Unveils Juniper PTX Routers at MWC 2026 to Boost AI Infrastructure Networking

The new Juniper PTX12000 and PTX10002 routers promise higher efficiency and scalable performance to meet the growing demands for AI-driven network traffic.

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise has launched new Juniper PTX routers ahead of the MWC 2026 event. The new product aims to enhance AI infrastructure networking for service providers and enterprises. This announcement marks HPE’s efforts to address the growing AI-related data traffic in a more power-efficient manner.

The update includes three additions to the Juniper PTX router family, featuring a reported 49% improvement in power efficiency compared to previous generations. The new Juniper PTX12000 modular routers are designed to help operators scale AI and cloud traffic without repeated infrastructure redesigns. According to HPE, the platform supports ultra-dense 800G port capacity on 1.6T-ready systems, scaling up to 345.6T on the eight-slot PTX12008 and 518.4T on the 12-slot PTX12012. In addition, the Juniper PTX10002 fixed-form routers deliver 28.8T or 14.4T throughput with flexible multi-rate ports ranging from 100G to 800G, tailored for AI network fabrics.

“AI infrastructure is a critical growth driver for service providers,” said Rami Rahim, Executive Vice President, President and General Manager for Networking at HPE. He added that the new PTX routers are built to support complex operations, rising data volumes, and evolving AI capabilities. HPE also previewed an “agentic-ready” upgrade to Juniper Routing Director, allowing enterprises to connect AI assistants to automate WAN routing workflows.

The announcement is the result of HPE's acquisition of Juniper Networks, expanding its portfolio to compete in the next-gen networking market for AI workloads. HPE also reaffirmed that the Juniper Cloud Native Router will be available on HPE ProLiant DL110 and EL140 Gen12 servers. More announcements are to be made at MWC 2026, fueled by the growing need for high-performance AI networking solutions.
