IBM has extended its partnership with Wimbledon to improve digital platforms for fans worldwide.
IBM and The All England Lawn Tennis Club have extended their collaboration, to continue digital innovation in sports. This strengthens IBM's position as an important technological partner to The Championships, Wimbledon, with goal of increasing worldwide reach and offering deeper fan engagement across digital platforms starting in 2026.
The companies in collaboration create innovative fan-focused experiences like Live Likelihood to Win and Match Chat. Combining huge amount of data collected during the Championships with IBM Watson's powerful AI capabilities. Previous year, these digital experiences contributed to a 16% year on year increase in overall engagement. With 20 million fans following Wimbledon action. The mobile app alone experienced a 19% increase in usage and received an average user rating of 4.9 stars.
The partnership's achievement has been valued throughout the sports technology industry. In 2025, the All England Club was named Sports Organization of the Year at the Sports Technology Awards. This suggested the successful use of AI and analytics in order to improve the fan experience.
IBM officials have pointed to the partnership as an outstanding example of the value of trusted, enterprise-class AI to deliver meaningful and customer-centric innovation at a global level. In a joint IBM and Morning Consult poll, 86% of tennis fans worldwide designated an interest in AI-enabled functionality. IBM and All England Lawn Tennis Club are actively engaged in the development of new technologies for improving accessibility, engagement, and involvement at Wimbledon, with the aim to define the future for digital sports.
