New integration combines Lumen’s edge capabilities with HPE Juniper Networking to deliver faster, more secure enterprise AI deployments.
Lumen Technologies is announcing a partnership with HPE to enable faster and more secure AI deployments at the edge of networks for enterprises. The integration will combine Lumen's edge infrastructure with HPE Networking now using Juniper Networks technology to provide enterprises more intelligent and more secure operations that are fast and cost-effective to deploy, the two companies said. "We are helping businesses quickly turn ideas into action, securely," said Dave Ward, chief technology and product officer for Lumen, in a statement about the partnership. "By tying HPE Networking's programmable networking with Lumen's edge capabilities, we are making it easy for enterprises to launch AI services that respond in real-time, scale seamlessly and stay secure." Empowering edge AI use cases in industries such as retail, health care and manufacturing can be achieved with the partnership, the companies said.
In July, Lumen announced it’s Lumen Connected Ecosystem, which they said allows customers to acquire, provision, and manage their network services as easily as they do their cloud solutions. A representative for Lumen confirmed that HPE is a technology partner with Lumen and part of the Lumen Connected Ecosystem. In addition, the Juniper Networks MX Series Universal Routers from HPE, deployed throughout the Lumen Network, are engineered for ultra-low latency and high throughput, which companies said makes them suitable for driving real-time AI applications.
“Our deployment with Lumen brings together the best of both worlds, programmable infrastructure and edge reaches to help customers realize the full potential of AI," said AE Natarajan, senior vice president and general manager, routing infrastructure solutions for HPE Networking in a statement. The offering combines security from both companies, with Lumen Defender Powered by Black Lotus Labs providing multilayered security for AI-era threats and HPE Networking providing inline encryption and line-rate DDoS defense, according to the companies. A spokesperson for Lumen indicated that the combined Lumen-HPE offering is available through Lumen and its channel partners.
