DHL Express USA has invested 90 million dollars into its new 92000 sq. ft. facility at Jersey City
DHL Express announced that it will invest $90 million in the greater New York City area to increase operational capacity and support sustainable growth in one of its highest-volume markets in the U.S. The investment will consist of new leases for facilities and capital expenditures for advanced technology and material handling systems and equipment. The facility will have more convenient access for courier vehicles, better charging stations in the building, and new dispatch capabilities for more accurate and quicker delivery of customers’ shipments to Manhattan and surrounding areas.
As part of this strategic investment, DHL Express will move its service center operations in Manhattan from its current building to a new facility in Jersey City by the end of November 2025, five miles away from Lower Manhattan. The new location is a modern 92,505 sq. ft. building with a functional design to better operate its business safely and efficiently.
The new facility will allow for new material handling technology that will increase the volume from the previous facility by twofold, from 3,000 to 6,000 conveyable pieces per hour (PPH), enhancing operational capacity and efficiency. "The New York City area is a critical component of our U.S. network and a major entry point for international trade," said Greg Hewitt, CEO of DHL Express U.S.
The $90 million investment highlights DHL Express's long-term commitment to the New York metropolitan area and its ongoing purpose of connecting people and improving lives through fast, reliable international express delivery.
