NSDMA's 'Safer Nagaland' Mobile App shows the growing capacity and commitment to harnessing technology for public safety and resilience.
Nagaland state government on Friday has launched the all-new “Safer Nagaland” weather application, which will provide real-time weather updates including early climate warning alerts and safety information to help the citizens to respond and prepare effectively to natural calamities, disasters, and frequently changing weather conditions across the state.
Adviser to Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) Z Nyusietho Nyuthe has officially launched the mobile app in the recent unveiling event that was held at NSDMA conference hall in Kohima. Speaking at the launch event, Nyuthe emphasized that this initiative is a significant milestone and symbolizes the State’s growing capacity and commitment to embrace digital innovation for the safety and well-being of its people. He also stated that this app will provide timely information and awareness to the citizens, thus saving them from disasters.
By downloading the "Safer Nagaland" app, citizens can now get real-time weather updates, location-based forecasts, and other important warning alerts directly on their mobile phones in seconds, anytime and anywhere. This new app is an extension of the NSDMA weather portal, which was launched earlier, and thereby it forms an integrated system for weather monitoring, forecasting, and awareness across the state.
Nyuthe has further has further stated that these services provided by NSDMA will ensure that the users data are safe, and all the critical information that the app provides will reach every nook and corner of Nagaland, from urban centers to the most remote villages. And NSDMA further aims to strengthen Nagaland’s network of automated weather stations by enhancing the forecasting capabilities, improving public awareness and educate them with various partnerships.
