Veteran HR leader to drive workforce excellence across Tata Steel’s major Indian operations
Tata Steel has announced the elevation of Zubin Pallia to the position of new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) – India Manufacturing from July 2025. Jamshedpur-based Pallia will be heading the Human Resources and Industrial Relations (IR) function for Tata Steel's manufacturing operations in India. With more than 25 years of experience at Tata Steel, Pallia has had hands-on experience in labor relations, HR technology, executive coaching, policy design, and innovation. In his current assignment, he will concentrate on propelling workforce excellence at Tata Steel's strategic manufacturing centers in Jamshedpur, Kalinganagar, and Meramandali, and also in engineering, commercial, and finance operations.
Pallia shared the news on LinkedIn, saying, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as CHRO – India Manufacturing at Tata Steel!” He will also oversee the Center of Excellence (CoE) for contract workforce management and continue strengthening industrial relations across multiple locations. His strong commitment to employee unions and HR strategy positions him as a strong leader for Tata Steel's people-focused vision.
Before this, Pallia served as Chief–Group HR & IR, where he worked extensively in areas like talent hiring, leadership development, performance management, rewards, employee relations, and cultural transformation. He also facilitated Tata Steel's group companies under the 'One HRM' philosophy, collaborating with 23 unions nationwide. Zubin Pallia's leadership will further power Tata Steel's strong people practices and build a future-oriented workforce.
