IBM unveils watsonx.data products to simplify enterprise data for advanced AI applications.
With the release of two new software products this month such as Watsonx.data integration and IBM Watsonx.data intelligence, IBM is converting the enterprise of data environment. These products are planned to integrate, govern and activate unstructured data, which is essential for allowing AI agents and sophisticated AI applications.
Both technologies seek to renovate the whole data-for-AI lifecycle into a single, integrated experience, and they will also be available via IBM's hybrid, open data lakehouse platform watsonx.data. The program has a strong importance on open and hybrid design, which facilitates smooth communication with external data stacks to improve adaptability, interoperability and creativity.
IBM claims that compared to conventional retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) models, these new products can produce AI that is up to 40% more accurate. In order to speed up improvement and operational efficiency in critical defense projects, Lockheed Martin, for instance, recently used the improved Watsonx.data platform to allow 70,000 engineers and scientists to effectively access millions of documents using natural language searches.
Businesses must control huge volumes of private data, a large portion of which is unstructured and scattered among emails, PDFs, videos and other media, in order to meet the increasing need for generative and agentic AI solutions. With the use of IBM's Watsonx.data integration which supports both structured and unstructured data, data engineers may organize data movement using a variety of mixing techniques such as ETL, real-time streaming and data replication.
With a focus on data governance, quality, and lineage, Watsonx.data intelligence allows enterprises to find, trust, and safely exchange valuable data across hybrid environments. As of June 11, both products are combined into the Watsonx.data Lakehouse and are offered as stand-alone solutions. With these developments, IBM is establishing itself as a pioneer in enterprise data simplification and enabling for the upcoming wave of AI-driven innovation.
