Qatar plans smarter, safer and greener transport systems to support growth and improve services.
The Shura Council held its weekly meeting yesterday, led by Speaker H.E. Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. During the session, the Council discussed Qatar’s transportation future focusing on a new plan shared by the Minister of Transport, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Thani.
The minister spoke about the Ministry of Transport’s 2025-2030 strategy which aims to make transportation in Qatar smarter, safer and more eco-friendly. This includes improving land, sea and air travel across the country. The plan will use smart technology and artificial intelligence to manage traffic, improve safety and lower costs. It also aims to reduce harm to the environment and increase the quality of services for people using transportation. The minister said this is all part of Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
He explained that the goal is to boost the economy and provide excellent transport services by making the most of the country’s modern infrastructure. For land transport, the ministry will work on building better roads and systems. In maritime transport, it will update rules for ship safety and help with the registration of sailors. The plan calls for the expansion of Hamad International Airport, particularly Concourses D and E, for air travel.
The Speaker of the Council highlighted the important work being done by the Ministry to develop Qatar’s transportation systems. Members of the Shura Council also praised the ministry’s efforts to make transportation more advanced and accessible. The plan aims to create a flexible, connected and sustainable transport network that supports Qatar’s growth and provides high-quality service to its people.
