Armed Robbery Forces Jamie Vardy Family to Abandon Italian Football Dream

Armed robbery at Lake Garda villa prompts former Leicester striker to quit Cremonese and relocate family back to England permanently.

  •   Armed thieves broke into Jamie Vardy's Lake Garda mansion in November 2025 during a football match

  •   Five masked men stole cash, watches, jewellery and a Patek Philippe watch worth approximately £80,000

  •   CCTV footage from the couple's ITV reality show 'The Vardys' captured the entire robbery on camera

  •   The incident prompted the family to relocate their children back to Leicester from Italy

  •   Vardy has since decided to leave Cremonese when his contract expires this summer

A devastating burglary has ended Jamie Vardy's plans to establish a permanent home in Italy. The former Leicester City striker and his family saw their dreams of making the country home shattered when five armed thieves targeted their luxury villa on the shores of Lake Garda in November 2025, making off with valuables totaling approximately £80,000. The burglary was filmed as part of Jamie and Becky's new ITV reality show, 'The Vardys' and the shows exclusive content will show the five burglars breaking into the home, dressed in black, with balaclavas on and armed with crowbars. Once inside the house, the criminals immediately started removing thousands of pounds worth of valuables from the safe.

According to Becky, she could tell when she arrived home that something was very wrong, "you could just 'feel' that someone had been in my house and taken everything." She claims that because of the evidence captured on CCTV, "you can see these five guys armed with crowbars and balaclavas". The experience left her feeling deeply violated, as she grappled with the invasive nature of having her home ransacked by strangers. The armed robbery occurred while the family attended a football match, with some reports indicating they were in Rome at the time. The Vardy family has experienced some serious repercussions due to this incident, which has gone far beyond just financial loss. Becky disclosed how the trauma caused by this event has created immense insecurity for her while living in their house in Italy. The result has left Becky feeling “on edge 24/7” and she has struggled to determine if she should continue to live there.

Jamie Vardy was also affected by the psychological impact that this incident had on him. Usually when Jamie plays well, it is because he feels his family is happy and secure; however after the robbery, he felt that he was mentally unstable, and as such his performance suffered greatly when he thought about the way his family was living thousands of miles from him.

The third episode of The Vardys currently airing on ITVX follows their decision to move back home (Leicester) where they had lived for the first 13 years of their children's lives. Based on their children's needs, and emotional stability, they concluded returning to England was the best choice to make for their children. The kids had experienced difficulty adjusting to life in Italy, and the burglary was the final factor in their decision to return. Following these events, Vardy formally decided to terminate his arrangement with Cremonese when his contract expires this summer. Despite contributing seven goals and three assists across 29 appearances for the Italian club, the 39-year-old's tenure ultimately ended in disappointment as Cremonese faced relegation at the season's conclusion. Vardy's departure marks the end of a brief chapter in Italian football, overshadowed by the devastating security breach that fundamentally altered his family's expatriate plans.

Business Honor is of the view that the armed robbery at Jamie Vardy's Italian mansion represents a significant catalyst in reassessing his family's expatriate lifestyle and professional commitments abroad.
