ThoughtWorks CISO Nithin Raina wins 2025 Chicago award for embedding security into business and client operations.
Thoughtworks, a worldwide technology consulting firm that combines design, engineering and AI to fuel digital innovation, announced today its Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Nitin Raina, has been named the 2025 Chicago CISO of the Year, recognized for his strategic vision to transform security from a technical requirement to a business imperative. This award from the Chicago CISO of the Year Program identifies exemplary CISOs for their impact to their respective organization, the information security profession and the local community, and Raina was awarded in the mid-cap category of organizations with sub $4B in revenue.
"I am delighted to congratulate Nitin for this honor that is well deserved," said Amit Choudhary, Chief Operating Officer at Thoughtworks. "Nitin's 'security by design' vision has helped to embed security in all aspects of delivering the project. His vision has been invaluable in allowing us to strengthen partnerships with our clients and serve as a growth catalyst for our business. This award represents the incredible influence he has as a leader and the tremendous impact his team has on both Thoughtworks and the technology community." In this position, Raina is responsible for guiding Thoughtworks' global programs for information security, enterprise risk and business steadiness. Raina and his team devised innovative frameworks aligned with business objectives such as Thoughtworks' award-winning 'Business-Centric Security Maturity Model' and a global 'Security Champions Program.'
These were both initiatives that led Thoughtworks to embrace security as a shared responsibility of its workforce. Nitin Raina, Global Chief Information Security Officer at Thoughtworks, stated, "I am extremely humbled to receive this award and to share the recognition with my amazing global team. We have worked hard to advance past the traditional security silos, to embrace a "shift-left" that has improved the organization's internal posture and became an important competitive advantage for Thoughtworks." Under Raina's direction, Thoughtworks' security programs received the Foundry's CSO50 Award in 2023 and a CSO Award in 2024. He was also a finalist for the Chicago CISO ORBIE Award in 2025.
