Apple’s new HomePod Mini will feature a faster chip, Wi‑Fi 6E, and smarter audio.
Apple is getting ready to introduce a new version of its smart speaker, the HomePod mini, with many of the improvements targeted at quicker connectivity and smarter audio. MacRumors claims that in order to provide a more advanced experience, the future model will go beyond the original S5 chip and outdated Wi-Fi standards. The S5 chip from the Apple Watch Series 5 is used in the current HomePod mini, which was introduced in 2020.
It lacks several modern features and is built on a simpler design, despite its efficiency. The S9 or S10 chip, which is based on Apple's A13 microarchitecture or later, is expected to be included in the new model. Better sound setup, quicker Siri responses, and greater audio would all be made possible by this upgrade's improved CPU, GPU, and neural engine abilities. There will also be a major improvement in connectivity. Apple's N1 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip, that supports Wi-Fi 6E and offers faster speeds, reduced delays, and less interference than Wi Fi 4, will be included in the next HomePod mini.
In addition, it might use Apple's second-generation UWB processor for faster smart home integration and improved device transfer. Retail signs suggest an upcoming launch. Current HomePod units have been marked as discontinued by major sellers like B&H Photo, while others are displaying them as out of stock. Analysts expect the launch by the second half of 2025, but till today Apple has not disclosed a release date. The new HomePod could grow into a central node for smart homes that supports ambient intelligence, continually alters sound, and serves as an AI-powered assistant.
