The well-known actor Val Kilmer, who starred in Batman Forever and Top Gun died at the age of 65.
Val Kilmer, a famous actor who played in some of the biggest movies of the 1980s and 1990s including the Batman Forever and Top Gun died at the age of 65.
Kilmer's daughter, Mercedes informed the US media that her father died of pneumonia in Los Angeles on Tuesday. In 2014, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer which she says she recovered from. His voice was weakened by tracheotomy surgery which ended his acting career until he returned in 2022's Top Gun.
In 2021, Kilmer released a documentary that reported the highs and lows of his career and life. Featuring 40 years of home recordings including him speaking via a vocal box following cancer surgery, Val made its Cannes Film Festival debut. Born on December 31st 1959, Val Edward Kilmer was raised in a middle-class Los Angeles household. Kilmer then acted with British actress Joanne Whalley whom he married in 1988 in the crime drama Kill Me Again and the fairytale Willow. The pair had two kids.
He played Jim Morrison in The Doors as the front man of the iconic band in the 1991 film. He also acted in the murder thriller Heat and the Western Tombstone. Twenty years after the singer's passing, he established his active and flexible abilities by showing Morrison the rock frontman in The Doors. The hits include tombstone in which he portrayed gunfighter Doc Holliday and Heat in which he performed with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
In 1995, he replaced Michael Keaton as Batman for Batman Forever, a box office hit with mixed reviews. Kilmer then withdrew from the following Batman film. He appeared with Marlon Brando in the Island of Dr. Moreau and as Roger Moore in the 1997 movie adaptation of the television series The Saint.
