Limited-Edition Racer Celebrates the End of an Era with a Stunning V8 Finale

Mercedes-AMG is marking a monumental milestone this year—130 years of motorsport excellence. To celebrate, the German automotive giant’s racing division has unveiled a special edition of their AMG GT3 race car, named the ‘Edition 130Y Motorsport,’ at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours in California. This limited-run model is not just a nod to the past but also a farewell to a legendary engine.

The Edition 130Y Motorsport is set to become a collector's dream with only 13 units being produced, each priced at EUR 1,030,000 (approximately Rs 9.5 crore). This exclusive model marks the end of the road for AMG's renowned 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, a powerhouse that has been a hallmark of their racing success.

The Edition 130Y Motorsport doesn’t just excel in performance—it also incorporates state-of-the-art safety features. Upgrades include fully adjustable four-way motorsport shock absorbers, a carbon fiber safety cell integrated with the chassis, a five-point harness, safety nets, a steel roll cage, a fire extinguishing system, a safety tank, and an emergency hatch.

Under the skilled hands of Mercedes-AMG performance driver Jules Gounon, the prototype Edition 130Y set a new benchmark by breaking the track record for GT cars at the renowned Mount Panorama Circuit in Australia. It completed the 6.213-kilometer track in just 1 minute 56.605 seconds, surpassing the previous record by 2.074 seconds.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport is not only a tribute to a historic engine but also a celebration of Mercedes-AMG’s enduring legacy in motorsport. As the final chapter of the 6.3-liter V8 era, this limited-edition car represents the pinnacle of performance engineering and a fitting homage to over a century of racing history.
