On WhatsApp, Meta AI said, "9.11 is bigger than 9.9," in response to the question, "Which is bigger, 9.9 or 9.11?" The chatbot responded that 9.9 is smaller than 9.11 by a margin of 0.02 when the user asked why 9.11 is larger than 9.9. The digits following the decimal point are what we compare when comparing decimal numbers, and in this example, the minor positive difference of 0.02 makes 9.11 marginally greater than.
When questioned further, the AI chatbot said that the user was correct and that 9.9 was 9.90, so isn't that greater than 9.11? It also apologized for the earlier error. Additionally, it was mentioned that 9.90 is higher than 9.11 and that 9.9 is in fact identical to 9.90. I appreciate you seeing that mistake.
According to user-shared screenshots on a community forum, OpenAI's ChatGPT replied with the same statement as MetaAI, stating that "9.11 is bigger than 9.9." When we checked, the AI chatbot said that 9.9 was larger than 9.11 because 9.9 is closer to 10 and 9.11 is only marginally over 9. However, it appears that this was fixed later.
ClaudeAI from Anthropic also misguessed the response.
