Core Offerings at True Colors Mental Health
Trauma & C/PTSD Therapy
True Colors Mental Health (TCMH) offers expert treatment to individuals struggling with the challenges of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD). PTSD often results from a single traumatic event and typically provokes symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, and emotional numbness, interfering with daily life. C-PTSD, however, results from chronic, repeated trauma, when someone feels trapped in an endless suffering with few hopes of escape. This typically follows a background history of abuse in childhood, domestic violence, captivity, or living in high-crisis environments like wars or human trafficking.
TCMH's trauma-informed care provides a supportive, compassionate space for healing. By creating an atmosphere of trust with a therapist, clients can learn about the causes of their trauma symptoms and develop healthy coping skills. Therapy enables a person to reframe their reactions and gain control over their emotional and mental health, allowing them to reclaim their lives and regain a feeling of safety and self-esteem.
LGBTQ+ Therapy
Being an LGBTQ+ person usually means confronting special challenges, from societal stigma and discrimination to internal challenges with identity. All these can be expressed as mental health issues, ranging from anxiety and depression to substance abuse. In True Colors Mental Health (TCMH), the emphasis is on providing a non-judgmental, LGBTQ+ Affirmative Care model that allows individuals, couples, families, and polycules to love and accept their true selves in a world that may not always validate their presence.
For others within the LGBTQ community, internalized homophobia, transphobia, or rejection by loved ones can evoke shame, self-blame, and low self-esteem. TCMH is a sanctuary where clients can work through these feelings and get started on the journey towards healing, self-acceptance, and recovery. The therapy focuses on resolving identity conflicts, relationship dynamics, and the emotional consequences of existing in such a heteronormative-dominated society. Guided with support and care, TCMH allows clients to be at peace and secure in their endeavor of living as themselves.
Therapy for Expats
Living abroad offers exciting adventures but also distinctive emotional and psychological challenges. For expatriates who are leaving home to fit into a new culture, language, and way of life, adjustment has in some instances yielded isolation, homesickness, and identity crises. True Colors Mental Health (TCMH) is experienced in offering therapy specifically for expats and assists in adjusting to the subtleties of life overseas outside of home.
Whatever the challenge - loneliness, conflict within relationships, career uncertainty, or dysfunctional coping mechanisms - TCMH is a place of safety to confront them. Resilience-focused clients are given personalized tools for navigating cultural adaptation, improving emotional adjustment, and establishing a sense of belonging in their new country. TCMH seeks to enable expats to flourish and build firm lives, regardless of where they call home. Through compassionate care and practical tools, clients are equipped to navigate their transitions with confidence, knowing that they have advice at every turn.
