Business Honor
The focus of Servio is to aid digital transformation in both provincial communities and their neighboring local governments and cooperatives, as well as develop technological enterprises to serve these regions. Their target is to create the same level of access to effective digital systems for all provincial communities as what exists in large cities. As part of this objective, they develop solutions that are Open Source, thereby preserving adaptability, accessibility, and usability for local institutions.
The foundation of Servio was built upon the experience of Joey Gurango, Ton Ancheta and James Olarte, who observed the growing disparity between rapidly digitizing urban industries and underserved communities in the provinces, which primarily result from inefficient operations due to; manual processes, fragmented records and minimal technology infrastructure. In order to make it possible for the provinces to improve their operational capability, they have adopted a model that leverages all of the available resources, whether publicly or privately owned, in order to deliver a holistic suite of operational tools built around an organization’s core functions.
Digital Transformation Services offered by Servio
Modernize Local Government Operations
Servio is collaborating with local government agencies (LGU) in the Philippines to move from manual, paper-based administrative systems to structured digital operations through the utilization of open source technology. The company's focus is on adapting digital systems to the way municipalities operate, especially in rural and provincial areas where limited physical infrastructure, segmented records, and resource limitations are common and impede delivery of public service. Rather than introducing rigid enterprise software systems, Servio utilizes modular system technology utilizing ERPNext where LGU can digitize various functions based on their own priorities and capacities.
The organization's primary goals are to improve operational areas affecting daily governance and delivery of services to citizens. Examples of these are e-business permit and licensing systems (eBPLS), payroll, financial reports, tracking procurement and records management of municipalities. By combining processes into an integrated digital workflow, municipalities can reduce the duplication of records, improve the accessibility of documents, and standardize reporting processes across all departments of the municipality. The systems are designed to meet compliance, while being adaptable to local administrative structures.
Implement Digital Solutions
Servio offers digital solutions for cooperatives, rural businesses, and MSMEs that want to coordinate their operations better and manage their finances more effectively. In fact, many local organizations still use spreadsheets, handwritten logs, and separate software systems to run their business and these methods can be difficult to maintain as they expand their businesses. Servio solves these challenges by providing integrated digital systems using ERPNext and other open-source technology, built specifically for the types of businesses and organizations within the communities they serve.
Cooperatives typically utilize these systems to manage their inventory, POS transactions, accounting, and coordination of multiple branches, as well as the collection and management of data on their members. These systems help to consolidate all of the operational data into one central location, minimizing the need for repetitive manual data entry across numerous departments. Organizations with multiple branches or distributed operations can also benefit from the use of these platforms by having access to real-time synchronized reporting and visibility of overall inventory levels, sales, and financials.
Train IT Professionals
Servio offers training course aimed at improving the technical skill of Information Technology professionals, developers, freelancers, and Municipal Technology Officers specifically in rural regions of the Philippines. This effort was born out of the need to provide advanced technical opportunity to people in the provinces and to prevent people from leaving rural areas where they are highly skilled for urban areas that offer advanced technical opportunities. The primary focus of the training program will be: implementing the ERPNext software system using the Frappe Framework, managing projects and maintaining Digital Systems.
The intended attendees for the program are software developers but the program can also be useful for Municipal Technology Officers and Employees of Organizations who execute Digital Operations. Servio’s training will include practical application of technical training through the completion of internships and/or apprenticeships at facilities that are currently utilizing the technology being taught. Attendees will see live implementations of Technology as it is applied in co-ops, municipal offices, and rural businesses, which will help them understand how Digital Systems work within Community Services.
Build Customized Platforms
By providing tailored solutions with the Frappe Framework along with other open-source technological options, Servio creates the most suitable system for companies to implement their digital tools without changing their methods to fit inflexible commercial software models. The system Servio creates help support many operational aspects of these organizations (agriculture cooperatives, citizen engagement portals, localized CRM systems, field services, social service systems, and dashboards).
For municipal and public sector organizations, Servio provides customized solutions for record management, report generation, and interdepartmental collaboration. For cooperatives and rural businesses, Servio’s systems may assist with production monitoring, supply chain management, membership management, or financial oversight. Servio’s operational support services are designed to fit each client’s unique needs, especially in regions with limited internet access or poor infrastructure.
Promote Open Standards
The goal of Servio is to offer open-source technology-based solutions while improving access and understanding of technology at the local level. Servio believes that solutions should remain within the organization, with organizations retaining ownership of their software, data, and business processes rather than being dependent on proprietary software ecosystems. Their initiatives are intended to promote an understanding of digital sovereignty and increase local involvement in technology development. To accomplish this, Servio has developed and offered several programs and services to establish a foundation for technology and digital literacy.
These types of activities allow those involved in the development of technology (developers, government employees, educators, and community organizations) to collaborate and share knowledge, while also building their digital literacy and technical skills. In addition to promoting the creation and use of open-source technology solutions, Servio is involved in conversations and discussions related to data governance, sustainable technology adoption, and the use of open-source software in the government and rural areas.
