Business Honor
Founded in 1962, Nation Safe Drivers has built its reputation on a simple but powerful promise: when motorists experience trouble on the road, help should arrive quickly, reliably, and professionally. For more than six decades, the organization has played a crucial role in keeping drivers on the move across North America, operating behind many of the most recognized roadside assistance and vehicle protection programs in the industry. Its infrastructure supports millions of motorists through partnerships with insurance companies, automotive dealers, fleets, financial institutions, and membership organizations.
Since becoming CEO in 2023, Richard Holland has focused on modernizing the company’s technology foundation, expanding its ecosystem of partner brands, and strengthening the operational scale that enables nationwide service delivery. While honoring the company’s original vision of dependable roadside assistance, his leadership reflects a forward-looking approach shaped by evolving industry demands, including connected vehicles, faster response expectations, and the need for scalable technology platforms.
Under his direction, Nation Safe Drivers continues to evolve from a traditional roadside assistance administrator into a technology-driven mobility services platform powered by innovation and strategic partnerships. Initiatives such as NSD360, a gamified learning and performance ecosystem for agents and automotive dealers, demonstrate the company’s commitment to transforming training into measurable operational performance. Guided by its mission to “power what moves you so you can move the world,” Nation Safe Drivers is redefining how roadside and vehicle protection services are delivered in a rapidly changing mobility landscape.
Interview Highlights with CEO Richard Holland
What are the core services that Nation Safe Drivers provides, and how have those offerings evolved over time?
At its core, Nation Safe Drivers offers white-label roadside assistance and vehicle protection solutions for businesses that cater to drivers.
Our partners include insurance companies, automotive dealers, OEMs, fleets, financial institutions, and affinity organizations. These companies rely on NSD to power roadside assistance and F&I protection programs under their own brand identity.
Over time, we have expanded our capabilities beyond traditional roadside services into a broader ecosystem of platforms designed to support mobility protection.
Today, our ecosystem includes several brands powered by NSD. Motify focuses on roadside assistance services. OnRamp supports finance and insurance solutions for the automotive market. Ditto helps enable partner distribution channels, and Fintiv focuses on financial protection services.
Together, these brands allow us to deliver specialized solutions while maintaining a unified operational infrastructure. Our partners gain the ability to launch and scale programs quickly without having to build the complex systems required to support them.
What key advantages do clients gain from partnering with Nation Safe Drivers instead of managing services independently?
The biggest advantage is the combination of scale and experience. Creating a nationwide roadside assistance operation requires an extensive provider network, dispatch systems, compliance management, payment infrastructure, and operational oversight. Building that independently is extremely complex.
Nation Safe Drivers has spent decades building that ecosystem. Our partners gain immediate access to a nationwide network and a proven operational platform without having to invest years developing it themselves.
The powered by NSD model also allows partners to maintain their own brand identity while benefiting from our infrastructure behind the scenes. That combination of flexibility and scale is what makes the partnership valuable.
How does Nation Safe Drivers ensure fast, reliable roadside assistance nationwide?
Reliability begins with the strength of the network. Nation Safe Drivers operates one of the largest roadside assistance provider networks in North America. Today, we work with over 50,000 verified service providers across the United States and Canada, supported by more than 250,000 service trucks ready to respond when motorists need assistance.
Our internal network operations team comprises more than 60 dedicated professionals who manage the ecosystem and coordinate over 78,000 provider interactions each month. Equally important are the relationships behind that network. Nation Safe Drivers has built more than sixty years of provider relationships, many of which span decades. Those partnerships are built on trust, reliability, and consistent collaboration.
What proprietary platforms or operational processes differentiate Nation Safe Drivers from other providers?
Technology is central to our operational model. Our ecosystem is powered by Moov Technology, the integrated platform that connects dispatch operations, provider management, claims processing, reporting, and partner integrations. Moov allows us to operate with speed while maintaining transparency and control across our service network. We are also introducing innovations that improve the experience for both motorists and providers.
Rescue Link is a mobile assistance platform that allows motorists to request roadside help directly from their phone without navigating complex processes. Another innovation is PayDay, a program that allows our service providers to receive payments daily rather than waiting weeks for compensation. That operational improvement strengthens the health of our provider network and creates a meaningful advantage for the professionals who support our ecosystem.
How does Nation Safe Drivers manage multi-state compliance and regulatory requirements while scaling nationwide?
Operating across multiple states requires a disciplined compliance framework. Each state has different regulatory requirements related to roadside assistance programs, vehicle protection products, and insurance partnerships.
Nation Safe Drivers maintains dedicated legal and compliance teams responsible for ensuring that our programs meet regulatory standards in every jurisdiction where we operate. Compliance is more than a regulatory requirement. It is also an important part of maintaining trust with partners and protecting the long-term stability of our programs.
How does Nation Safe Drivers customize its programs for OEMs, dealers, insurers, and fleet partners?
Every partner has different goals and customer expectations. An automotive dealer program may focus on enhancing the value of a vehicle purchase. Insurance partners may prioritize claims support and customer retention. Fleet operators often focus on minimizing downtime and maintaining operational efficiency.
Our platform is designed to adapt to those needs. Because our infrastructure is modular, we can customize services, branding, operational workflows, and program structures for each partner. This flexibility allows organizations to create protection programs that align directly with their customer experience strategy.
Looking ahead, what are Nation Safe Drivers’ strategic priorities for the next two to three years?.webp)
Our strategy focuses on three priorities: First is technology leadership. We will continue investing in digital infrastructure and platforms that modernize roadside assistance and mobility services.
Second is expanding our partner brands powered by NSD so we can serve multiple industries while maintaining a unified operational platform.
Third is strengthening partner success. Everything we build must create measurable value for the organizations we serve.
Internally, we often use a phrase that captures our mindset: Growth All Ways Always. It reflects our belief that progress comes from continuous improvement across technology, operations, partnerships, and culture.
