1. Can you tell us more about the range of services Four Winds IT offers and how they are tailored to meet the unique needs of your clients?
Every company, even within the same industry, is unique and faces their own challenges, which is why we don’t do anything cookie cutter at Four Winds. Opposed to throwing a bunch of IT projects at clients, we meet with their leadership during onboarding to determine where their company is heading, what’s important to them, what problems they currently face, and the timeline for implementation. From there our team translates business initiatives into action items for the IT roadmap, and each item will have an estimated budget, project timeline, and potential impact on business. It’s up to our clients to determine which items take precedence and when they would like to execute each.
2. Microsoft Azure and cloud backup solutions are major highlights. What specific challenges do these services solve for businesses, and how do they stand out from other cloud solution providers?
Anyone with a credit card and a Microsoft certification can start leveraging Microsoft’s cloud platform, Azure, but it’s how you utilize the platform that makes all the difference. At Four Winds we take a different approach—opposed to pitching cloud and its various benefits, we instead do a deep dive into our client’s organization to better understand how they operate on a daily basis and their goals for the next 5 years. From there our cloud engineers are able to leverage Azure to build customized solutions that address a specific, practical business function. This enables our clients to gain immediate impact from their cloud technology as opposed to buying a solution based on a bunch of benefits that never come to fruition.
Backing up data is not a new concept, but how you back up your data and your ability to recover quickly from an incident are more important than ever. Our backups solve three main issues for companies:
Secure + Regulatory Compliant: Virtually all regulatory compliance and cyber insurance providers have very strict requirements when it comes to how data is being backed up. Our backups meet all major US compliance regulations and will pass any insurance applications providing air-gapped, encryption in transit and at rest, and the ability to replicate to a local device for speedy recovery.
One-Size Fits All: Companies can save data in any number of places, whether it be on a server, in the cloud, in, M365, Google Workspace, local desktop, etc. Four Winds cloud backups can accommodate any use case regardless of where data us saved and can be set up to back up multiple sources within a single environment.
Consistent Monthly Billing: Every company wants consistent billing from their vendors and that’s exactly what our backup solution provides. Unlike most competitors that have fluctuating monthly charges for backups based on amount of data being backed up or restored, we’re able to offer a consistent flat rate every single month regardless of the amount of data present. This makes for a more consistent and predictable service for our clients.
3. What guidance would you offer to aspiring entrepreneurs in the tech sector, and how has your experience in growing and leading Four Winds IT influenced your views on leadership?
To thrive in the competitive tech start-up market, focus on continuous improvement by refining your product based on user feedback and emerging trends. Identify an underserved niche and tailor your offerings to meet their needs. Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, empowering your team to take calculated risks while prioritizing customer satisfaction. Balance bold moves with thoughtful planning to ensure efficiency without sacrificing quality. Create a "Technology Sandbox" for exploring new tools, align your team with a unified goal, and build strong relationships with clients and investors through in-person connections. Finally, remain optimistic—stay focused on small, forward steps, and embrace the risks that come with entrepreneurship. Confidence is the key; without it, things may spiral downhill. Keep pushing forward!

An experienced executive, Mr. Don has a proven track record of driving profitability and market leadership through operational excellence and strategic process implementation. He has held leadership roles at major Fortune 500 companies, including Crane Corporation and Hubbell Corporation, where he successfully led multinational sales teams across professional services, engineered products, and voice/data communications.
Don is well-known for his "Strategic Deployment Process," which aligns strategy, structure, motivation, and resources to drive growth and improve operational efficiency. He holds a BS in Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, an MS from the University of Pennsylvania, and has completed the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership. Additionally, Don is a certified Six Sigma/Lean Black Belt, further underscoring his commitment to continuous improvement and leadership excellence.
