Business Honor
Art X on Glass is where enduring craftsmanship meets emotional storytelling through the unique medium of hand-painted glass. More than decoration, each piece is a soulful work of art, born from an ancient technique reimagined with modern imagination. The artists paint not just with their hands, but with their eyes and hearts, creating distinctive artworks that transform everyday surfaces into living expressions of emotion and identity.
From custom kitchen splashbacks to elegant glass tables and coasters, each piece balances stunning aesthetics with practical durability, elevating interiors into personalized sanctuaries. The gentle art of painting behind glass encourages the artists to view the world differently, delivering vibrant, mirrored artworks that captivate and inspire.
At Art X on Glass, they believe in celebrating uniqueness, both in art and in people. Their passion is to bring exclusive, handcrafted glass art into every home, making each space a reflection of its owner’s soul.
In Conversation with Miriam Schnyder
Your pieces showcase remarkable hand-painted details on glass. Could you elaborate on the specialized techniques or technologies your artisans use to achieve such precision and vibrancy?
Every of “my” artists developed his / her own technique of painting on glass. It was not easy to find the way, how to dry the colors or, to determine which way to move the paint brush. But do you know what? We love challenges and we found a way to make beautiful paintings, which tell a story.
Many of your products—like backsplashes, coasters, and tables—seamlessly integrate artistic expression with functional design. How do you balance aesthetic innovation with practical durability and usability, especially for high-use spaces?
We make a lot of innovations. Often, I walk into our art studio with my head full of new ideas. I’m grateful to have a wonderful team I can trust—people who listen, support, and help refine these ideas. Not every idea is possible to be realized on glass. As visionary, I fly with my ideas to the stars and my team brings me back (smile).
Customization is a hallmark of your work. How does Art x on Glass maintain the uniqueness of each piece while scaling personalized designs for diverse client needs?
We listen to people, to their needs, and their voice. Before creating a customized piece, we meet with the client in person to understand their story. Each painting is meant to become part of someone’s life; it should harmonize with the person / with family. Our biggest painting had a mass of 3m x 2.5m and it is a glass for an atrium in a house by Neuenburg Lake in Switzerland. It’s a stunning piece, featuring a radiant sun, flowing waves, and a vibrant blend of orange, blue, and silver tones. The result is nothing short of breathtaking.
Given the moisture and temperature fluctuations in kitchens and bathrooms, what makes your glass art an ideal choice for these environments compared to traditional materials?
We work with 6mm tempered glass, and our painting is from the back of the glass. Many people have one color on the glass in the kitchen and bathrooms. These colors are everywhere the same; we call them RAL colors. Why not be unique and have, for example, a sunset in your kitchen, or a lotus flower as a painting? When something is handmade, it becomes truly unique because no one else in the world will have the same painting as yours.
The home decor market is rapidly evolving with shifting consumer preferences. Have you recently launched any new collections or innovations that reflect these changes while staying true to your artistic ethos?
Our “Asia-collection” is very successful and we prepare a collection “Homage on Little Prince”, where our artists present their imagination of a Little Prince.
Art is often looked down upon by society as just a hobby or something non-essential—how does Art x on Glass work to change that perception and highlight the true value of glass art?
It is a hard job. As you mentioned, art is often looked down on by society as just a hobby or something that people do not need. It is hard to change the opinion of the people, but not impossible. With the pictures of our paintings and with the interviews, we try to show society that it is ok to be unique. It is okay to have at home something beautiful that no one else in the world has—your very own Art X on Glass painting.
With smart home technology gaining momentum, do you foresee Art x on Glass integrating interactive or light-responsive elements into your artwork to enhance user experience and emotional connection?
We are deeply committed to innovation and are currently developing paintings that incorporate light-responsive elements. This process presents significant challenges, particularly in achieving an even illumination of the glass from all sides, which is a complex and demanding task. To overcome these obstacles, we collaborate closely with leading companies based in the Zürich area of Switzerland. Together, we are confident that we will find an effective solution that enhances the beauty and experience of our glass artworks.
What would you say to younger artists aspiring to work with glass art or join Art x on Glass? How do you nurture their growth and creativity within your team?
Such cooperation can only succeed when people leave behind their prejudices. Many tend to underestimate glass painting because they believe that true art can only be created on canvas. However, at Art X on Glass, everyone is welcome to join our team regardless of these preconceptions. Do you know why? We support each other, there is no hierarchy, and there are no bosses and employees. We are all artists and we all sit in the same boat, encouraging each other’s growth and creativity.
Every art has its own story. Could you share one or two insights about the artists behind your creations — their backgrounds, inspirations, and how their individual styles contribute to the unique identity of each piece?
Actually, we are seven artists who are making paintings for Art X on Glass. Everybody from our team comes from another country. Eirini Stefanaki is coming from Creta and her style is modern art. She is the “mother” of our “Asia-collection” and she is doing beautiful paintings with acryl spray. Veronika Gisler is coming from Austria, and she is our glass expert. Her flowers on glass are amazing. Monika Prochazka and her father Miroslav Prochazka, Miro and his brother Marian Sidlik, and I – we are from Slovakia, and we bring totally different wind into the paintings. We work with glitter, we love powerful colors, and our paintings are full of huge emotions. Every nation in our world has so many strengths, and it is so great to show these beautiful emotions on glass.
