“At Actuate, our goal is to keep people safe in any environment, without compromising privacy”
Actuate is a company focused on improving safety through innovative threat detection systems, while protecting privacy. Actuate's founder, Sonny Tai, has a unique outlook after being raised in South Africa and serving as a Marine Corps Captain. Actuate aims to address escalating issues of safety in light of increasing gun violence in the U.S.
Actuate accesses the expertise of learning from law enforcement, educators, and veterans in relation to developing its solution, using computer vision and artificial intelligence to convert ordinary security cameras into smart, proactive surveillance systems. The company designs its technology with the end objective of streamlining response times and safety outcomes during crisis situations. In addition, more everyday concerns such as thefts, overcrowding, and loitering issues can be addressed using this technology.
Actuate software is light in weight and integrates well with existing security camera systems, so no hardware installation or physical changes are even necessary for new installs. The company continues to focus on enhancing security solutions across a range of settings, with solutions that scale effectively, without compromising privacy or adding unnecessary complexity.
Industries Served by Actuate
Central Stations
Actuate improves the monitoring of a central station by injecting AI into an existing system, which significantly boosts operational efficiency. It does this by enhancing "signal-to-noise" ratio so that operators can monitor more cameras, yet focus on the right threats. The software decreases false alarms dramatically with exception-based monitoring techniques that filter out nonrelevant events like animals or environmental changes but allows for actual threat—like human and vehicle intrusions—to trigger alerts. This saves more than 97% of unnecessary alarm activation, which means a security team needs to dedicate less time and resources to false alarms. By using Actuate's AI-powered intruder detection, central stations can increase the effectiveness of their operations, allowing staff to focus on genuine security concerns and reducing response times.
Hospitals
Actuate enhances healthcare security by way of real-time weapon detection in order to improve safety in hospitals and clinics, which have been one of the major scenarios for workplace violence. This AI-based cutting-edge technology empowers security teams to review all camera feeds at once and ascertain threats before they become actual threatening situations. It spots weapons as soon as they appear on camera and notifies security staff long before any shots are fired. Actuate integrates seamlessly with existing camera systems and video management platforms, turning ordinary cameras into smart surveillance tools. Known for industry-leading accuracy, Actuate delivers over 99% detection accuracy with respect to weapons, intruders, and other possible threats, keeping healthcare environments safe for both staff and patients.
Schools
Actuate enhances school safety through AI-powered, real-time monitoring solutions. It transforms existing security cameras into smart, intruder-and-gun-detecting devices for faster schools responses without visual intrusion that might affect learning. Actuate's advanced technology will detect weapons as soon as they appear on camera and alert administrators before shots can be fired and harm could be done. The system also provides real-time tracking of moving threats so that school officials can track the situation until it is resolved. Actuate integrates with the existing camera infrastructure in a school, thus eliminating the need to upgrade the costly hardware, and is seen as a cost-effective solution for safer school environments with no additional operational burden.
Public Spaces
AI-powered monitoring systems enhance safety in public spaces by offering real-time threat detection and responses. Such systems can seamlessly integrate with existing security infrastructures, ensuring the security teams react in time to potential violence or danger. Under five seconds, it is able to detect weapons with more than 99% accuracy, which means threats will be quickly noticed for immediate responses to take action. It is also able to recognize those posing a threat even if they do not use visible arms, hence increasing proactive security. The system alerts the security personnel in real-time, giving a specific location of the threat, hence ensuring quick response. Importantly, it does not analyze or store personally identifiable information, hence maintaining privacy while keeping off harm from the public and giving them peace of mind.
